Is online therapy in Washington right for you?
If several of these sound familiar, a free 15-minute call is a good place to start.
- ✓You live in Washington and want a therapist who specializes in ADHD and trauma, not a generalist
- ✓Driving to an office every week does not fit your work, family or energy
- ✓You have tried talk therapy before and want approaches like EMDR or Brainspotting
- ✓You were diagnosed with ADHD late, or suspect it and were never assessed
- ✓Old experiences still shape how you react at work, in relationships or under stress
How online therapy works in Washington
Every session happens over secure, HIPAA-compliant video. You join from home, a parked car, or any private space where you can talk freely. There is no commute, no waiting room, and no need to live near a particular city. Because I am licensed in Washington, you can work with me from anywhere in the state.
Licensing rules tie therapy to where you are during the session, not where you live on paper, so you need to be physically in Washington at the time of each session. If you travel, tell me ahead of time and we will sort out what is possible.
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or every other week. We start with a free 15-minute call to see whether we are a good fit. If it seems right, we book a full intake appointment. If it does not, I will point you to someone who may be a better match.
What I help Washington adults with
Two specialties, plus the things that usually come with them.
ADHD therapy
Focus, follow-through, emotional regulation, and the shame that builds up after years of being told to try harder.
Trauma therapy
PTSD and complex trauma, using EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy and KA‑EMDR® where they fit.
Anxiety
Worry, overthinking and attachment patterns that show up in relationships.
Depression
Including treatment-resistant depression, with Brainspotting and other body-based approaches.
About your Washington therapist
I am Sean O'Connor, MA, LMHC. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University, a CACREP-accredited program, and spent ten years working in neuromodulation for depression and post-traumatic stress disorder before focusing on therapy.
I trained in EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Brainspotting and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy because talking alone was not moving the things my clients came in with. Sessions are direct, warm and practical. You should leave each one knowing what we did and why.

Washington online therapy questions
How much does therapy cost in Washington?
My fee is $160 per 50-minute session. Rates across Washington vary by city, credential and specialty, so it is worth comparing a few options. If you plan to pay without insurance, you have the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of your expected costs.
Does insurance cover online therapy in Washington?
Many plans cover telehealth therapy the same way they cover in-person sessions, but it depends on your plan. I am in network with UnitedHealthcare, Optum and First Choice Health. For other plans, including most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, I provide a superbill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. You can use the quick insurance check and I will tell you what a session would cost you.
What is an LMHC, and is it different from a therapist or counselor?
"Therapist" and "counselor" are general terms. A Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) is a specific Washington license that requires a master's degree, supervised clinical hours and a national exam. You can look up any Washington license, including mine, on the Washington State Department of Health provider search.
Do I have to live in a certain part of Washington?
No. Because sessions are online, I work with adults throughout Washington State: Seattle, Bellevue, Everett and the rest of King and Snohomish counties; Tacoma and Olympia; Bellingham and the north Sound; Vancouver and southwest Washington; Spokane, the Tri-Cities, Yakima, Wenatchee and the rest of eastern Washington. You do need to be physically in Washington during each session.
Is online therapy private?
Sessions run on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. The main thing on your side is finding a space where you will not be overheard. Please keep email and text to scheduling, since they are not fully secure.
Is this a crisis service?
No. If you are in danger or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911.
